Radio Service Technician

Technician services shall consist of performing installations, repairs/replacements, technical evaluations and assessments of various radio system(s), troubleshooting, and/or maintenance of said systems to include, but not be limited to, the following services/maintenance items: •Helpdesk and in-field response of day-to-day radio problems. •Monitoring of leased phone lines circuits between the MegaCenters and other various radios sites, and troubleshooting of daily problems, such as opens shorts, low line levels that may occur when checked at the comparator, primary system room, or the vote display at the dispatch consoles. It is understood that phone lines and house lines will be covered for troubleshooting, but not for replacement. •Providing assistance in any phone line issue that also may involve the Vanguard Radio network located in the MegaCenters. •Checking all dispatch hardware such as monitors, foot pedals, keyboard, central processing units, and headset jacks. Also checking all microphones and central interfaces for electronics unit (CIE), located in the Dispatch Centers, which will be inspected by the contractor for proper operations. •Addressing all radio problems for repair, and document repairs when required by the National Repair Contract. •Providing programming of the radio database, and keeping current, the information as provided for the Mega-Centers dispatch console, Alias Database Manager (ADM). The contractor will program alias encryption and radio ID's in both the MegaCenter consoles and subscriber units, such as mobiles, portables, and base stations. •Providing encryption programming when needed in the Digital Interface Unit (DIU), and checking for proper follow-up operations. The Contractor shall ensure that all encryption is FIPS 140-2 and FIPS 197 Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) 256 compliant. •Repair, installation, and/or removal of small electronic equipment such as radio interoperability gateways, remotes controls, and external speakers that relate to communications. •Maintaining radio inventory databases concerning serial numbers, names, and identifiers of mobiles, portables, and base stations.
